Cary S. Chugh, former director of children’s services at Mercy of Northern New York in Watertown, has self-published “Don’t Swear With Your Mouth Full! — When Conventional Discipline Fails Unconventional Children.”
Some points Mr. Chugh asserts in the book: the most common discipline strategies favored by most parents, teachers and health-care professionals are actually technically flawed.
He also believes that time-limited punishments, such as age-based time-out, grounding for a week and detention for several days in school, should be eliminated.
Mr. Chugh, a Buffalo native and a licensed clinical psychologist, is a partner at East Amherst Psychology Group.
The book, priced at $15.99, can be purchased at Mr. Chugh’s Web site, www.carychugh.com, or through Amazon.com.
