CANTON — Two DeKalb Junction residents were indicted Tuesday by a St. Lawrence County grand jury for allegedly spanking a 5-year-old boy hard enough with a wooden spoon and spatula to cause severe bruising of the child's buttocks.
John Faunce, 30, andNatasha Whitney, 26, both of 2901 County Route 17, face two counts each of second-degree assault and child endangerment.
Both were accused of using their hands and the utensils to discipline the boy Nov. 25 and Dec. 20.
The grand jury also returned indictments against the following:
Carri Poliski, 37, of 740 County Route 36, Chase Mills, was charged with second-degree burglary.
She is accused of breaking into the Maple Street home of Corey Miller on Jan. 2 in the town of Potsdam.
Heather Smolich-Williams, 31, of 7256 County Route 27, Lisbon, was charged with third-degree criminal mischief.
She is accused of damaging a car, owned by Marie Pearson, in the town of Lawrence on May 25, 2008.
Andrew Sharpe, 25, of 1111 LaFayette St., Ogdensburg, was charged with two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and single counts of second-degree burglary, resisting arrest and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle.
He is accused of breaking into the residence of Scarlett Fletchall on Jan. 14, along with stealing a credit card and her 1999 Ford Explorer. It is also alleged that he resisted arrest when stopped by police and that he has a suspended driver's license.
Robert J. Corcoran, 28, of 3621D Route 58, Gouverneur, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
He is accused of having a forged prescription and trying to fill it Dec. 17 at Kinney Drugs on Clinton Street in Gouverneur.
