COPENHAGEN — The 2009 class leaders of Copenhagen Central School are Augusta A. Williams, valedictorian, Joseph S. Foy, salutatorian, and Michael K. McDonald, vocational leader.

Miss Williams, daughter of Molly and John Williams of Carthage, has an average of 98.21. A member of the National Honor Society, she has been class president for her sophomore, junior and senior years and was secretary of her freshman class.

Miss Williams has participated in Whiz Quiz, the Pratt Northam Youth Advisory Council, yearbook activities, peer tutoring, school band, bi-county band, jazz band and New York State School Music Association solos.

She has been a student aide, a piano teacher and piano accompanist for elementary, middle school and high school choruses.

Miss Williams was selected for a Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Medal Award, a University of Rochester Bausch & Lomb Science Award, a New York State Scholarship for Academic Excellence, a Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award and a Hobart and William Smith Colleges Faculty Scholar Award.

She plans to attend Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Geneva, to major in biology with a premedical concentration.

Mr. Foy, son of Stephen and Judy Foy of Watertown, has an average of 96.99. He is a member of National Honor Society and is secretary of Student Council.

He has also participated in the Game Club, Whiz Quiz, peer tutoring, school band, jazz band, chorus, varsity basketball and the Christian band Transform.

Mr. Foy was selected for an Elmira College Key Award, an Elmira College Salutatorian Scholarship and a SUNY Plattsburgh Award for Academic Excellence.

He plans to attend Bard College at Annandale-on-Hudson to major in music.

Mr. McDonald, son of Pamela and Christopher McDonald of Copenhagen, has a vocational average of 83.01.

He has attended the Automotive Technology program at the Howard G. Sackett Technical Center in Glenfeld for the past two years.

A member of Copenhagen's wrestling, soccer and baseball teams, Mr. McDonald has also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity.

After graduation, Mr. McDonald plans to work at Ron's Brake and Automotive Service in Watertown.
