Watertown woman sentenced to prison for heroin possession

A Watertown woman was sentenced Friday in Jefferson County Court to 11/2 years in state prison for possessing heroin.

Kimberly N. Lashure,21, address unknown, will have to undergo an additional year of supervision upon release from prison for a March 17 guilty plea to third-degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance. She was accused in a grand jury indictment in December of possessing more than one-half ounce of heroin with the intent to sell it in October in the town of Adams.

In other court activity Friday:

Daniel A. Horeth,21, of 23661 Water Tower Drive, Brownville, was sentenced to a year in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and five years' probation for May 22 guilty pleas to second-degree assault and first-degree unlawful imprisonment.

He admitted at the time of his plea that he assaulted his unidentified ex-girlfriend Dec. 27 in Watertown while threatening her with a knife. He had been charged with second-degree kidnapping after police alleged he jumped into the woman's vehicle in a parking lot at the Salmon Run Mall, pulled a knife and ordered her to drive.

David J. Parkis,43, Watertown, was sentenced to six months in the PSB and five years' probation for convictions on two counts of third-degree burglary and a single count of second-degree assault.

He pleaded guilty to assault April 22 for punching Danielle L. Lee in the face March 24. He was also sentenced Friday for two March 2007 guilty pleas to burglary, for which he previously had not appeared for sentencing. He had been accused of entering two rental properties in Watertown in November 2006 and stealing copper pipes and other items. He was ordered to pay about $28,800 restitution in the burglary cases.

Robert J. Fountain Jr.,47, of 90094 Dogwood Drive, Theresa, was sentenced to five years' probation and ordered to pay $4,374 in restitution for an April 15 guilty plea to third-degree criminal mischief. He admitted at the time of the plea that he damaged a pool and tires belonging to Susan Hunter, town of Alexandria, in August 2007.

Rachelle J. Moyer,20, Fort Drum, was sentenced to five years' probation and ordered to pay $1,071 in restitution for April 15 guilty pleas to fourth-degree attempted grand larceny, fifth-degree insurance fraud, third-degree falsely reporting an incident and second-degree identity theft as a result of three incidents.

She admitted using a credit card belonging to Ashley N. McComas to pay a $525 cable bill Sept. 8. She also admitted insurance fraud and falsely reporting an incident for reporting to state police July 22 that her wedding ring, valued at $1,220, had been stolen when she actually sold it. She further admitted to identity theft by using another woman's Social Security number to obtain 15 credit cards and making purchases on three.

Helen M. Lightner,48, of 35033 Eddy Road, Lot 16, Theresa, was sentenced to three years' probation and ordered to pay $500 in restitution for an April 13 guilty plea to third-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument. She was accused of forging a check belonging to Lesley Vars, Wellesley Island, and cashing it Feb. 10 at the Big M in Alexandria Bay.

Justin A. Chubb,20, Carthage, was sentenced to a year of probation for an April 15 guilty plea to fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana. He admitted at the time of the plea he possessed more than 25 grams of marijuana Jan. 31 in West Carthage.

Christy L. Reff,30, Middleburgh, pleaded guilty to third-degree grand larceny. Sentencing is July 27. She admitted she stole more than $3,000 in lottery tickets, cash and cigarettes from North Country Express Mart, 634 James St., Clayton, while working there in 2006.

William Reyes Jr.,27, of 845 Starbuck Ave., Apt. 1302, pleaded guilty to second-degree reckless endangerment and driving while ability impaired. He entered his plea to endangerment using a partial Alford plea, meaning he did not admit to all of the underlying facts of the case, but was pleading guilty to avoid a stiffer sentence if found guilty at trial.

He admitted he had been consuming alcohol March 21 when his vehicle collided with one operated by his wife on Plaza Drive in the town of Pamelia. Sentencing was set for July 27.

Vernon R. Fitchette,21, of 17584 County Route 12, LaFargeville, pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated as a misdemeanor and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Sentencing is July 27. He admitted driving drunk April 17 on Route 180 in the town of Orleans while his driver's license was suspended for a prior alcohol-related offense.
