On a whim, Patty Mondore decided to send a copy of the latest DVD she produced with her husband to The Dove Foundation.

The foundation was created in 1990 by a group of fathers who began looking for a way to identify movies that were compatible with their families' values. It gives such movies its Dove Family-Approved Seal. The seal is sought by such companies as Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.

"River-Lations," produced by Patty and her husband, Robert Mondore, has earned the Dove Foundation's highest rating at five stars.

"Anyone who loves great vocals, beautiful scenery and animals, or simply enjoys viewing God's creation, will enjoy this DVD," Dove Foundation reviewer Edwin L. Carpenter wrote.

"I was dumbfounded," Mrs. Mondore said. "It was almost tongue-in-cheek that I sent it off to them."

The music video "River-Lations" was shot on and along the St. Lawrence River. The Mondores live in Jamesville, Onondaga County, and also have a camp on Kring Point Road in the town of Alexandria. Their latest video completes a trilogy of Thousand Islands music videos, joining "Proclaim His Praise in the Islands" and "Heaven and Nature Sing."

All of the DVDs feature wildlife filmed by Mr. Mondore set to original music by Mrs. Mondore.

Gold Mountain has also produced the documentary "Dark Island's Castle of Mysteries" and Mrs. Mondore has recorded two CDs and has written five books published by a Christian publisher, including, "A Good Paddling," a collection of 30 nautical adventures written from the perspective of the author's kayak.

The 38-minute "River-Lations" includes scenes of wildlife such as deer and ospreys, a boat parade at the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton and scenes of ships, lighthouses and sunsets. There's also scenes of Hoover, a chipmunk that has lived at Mondore's camp for several years.

"Our leading actor is a chipmunk who works for peanuts," Mrs. Mondore said. "We named him Hoover because he eats like a vacuum cleaner."

When they aren't making music, books and videos along the St. Lawrence River, Mrs. Mondore works at Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, as its pediatric residency program coordinator and Mr. Mondore works at the hospital's clinical data department.

Gold Mountain products are available from retailers throughout the Thousand Islands area.
