Karleen B. Jones, Henderson, passed away Friday, June 19, in the emergency room of Samaritan Medical Center. She was born May 30, 1935 in Pierrepont Manor, the daughter of Stanley M. Brown and Florence Wood Brown. She was a member of the Mannsville-Manor Central School class of 1952, and graduated from S.U.N.Y. Potsdam in 1956. She served the students of Union Academy Belleville School District as a Kindergarten teacher for 34 years, retiring in 1990.

In retirement, Ms. Jones was involved in the South Jefferson area as a care-giver to her neighbors and local families. She was also an active member of the Henderson Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and the South Jefferson Lions Club.

Her only child, Steven M. Souva, pre-deceased her in 2005. She is survived by her brother and two nieces, Richard C. Brown of Baldwinsville, NY, Lisa A. Brown of Liverpool, NY, Anita & Norman Jones, Jr. and their children of Mannsville, and her loyal friend, Nancy Naklick, Utica.

Arrangements are with Piddick Funeral Home, Adams. There will be no calling hours or funeral. Ms. Jones requested that her body be donated to science at University Hospital, Syracuse, and will be cremated. A private family memorial service at Elmwood Cemetery, Adams, will be held at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
