Right-on-red considered by DOT for corner in Canton

CANTON — The state Department of Transportation may soon allow drivers to turn right on red from Riverside Drive onto Main Street.

The village Board of Trustees recently approved a resolution, formally making the request to the DOT, which is recommending the change. The change won't have to wait for the DOT's reconstruction project for Route 11 through the village, scheduled to begin next year.

"We're asking for it as soon as possible," Mayor Charlotte C. Ramsay said.
