Michael McCarthy

Michael J. McCarthy, 47, Francis St., Watertown, passed away Sun. morning, June 21, 2009, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County. He had been battling colon cancer for 6 months.

The funeral mass will be held on Wed., June 24, at 10AM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Richard Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Martinsburg Cemetery. Arrangements are with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown.

Mike was born in Watertown on March 6, 1962, the son of John P. and Nancy Kelly McCarthy. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1980 and received a certificate in Hospitality and Tourism from JCC.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 61, was a director at the Northside Improvement League, and was a former member of the Irish Festival Committee. He enjoyed fishing, politics, and was interested in finances. He was an avid sports fan, especially the NY Yankees and Giants.

Besides his parents of Watertown, he is survived by his 3 brothers, Matthew J., Joseph P., and Daniel J., all of Watertown, and his numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
