CONSTABLEVILLE — Helen R. O'Brien, 76, of N. Main St. Constableville, died June 19, 2009 at her home while under the care of Lewis Co. Hospice, and her family.

Born on August 27, 1932, in Greig, a daughter of Gerald and Helen Mezey Rasmussen. Helen attended Lowville Schools, and married M.L. Patrick O'Brien on May 28, 1950 in Martinsburg. He died August 22, 1995. She was a librarian at Constableville Library, a clerk at Batemans Department Store, and the Falls Pharmacy. From 1968-94 she was Town Clerk for the Town of West Turin. Helen was an avid reader, knitter, gardener and enjoyed her family and cooking.

Surviving are her children, Patricia and Bruce Axtell, Lyons Falls, Daniel and Maureen O'Brien, Sandston, VA. Timothy and Stacy O'Brien, Corham, ME. Shanon and Kim O'Brien, Adams Center.

Grandchildren, Shawn and Toniya O'Brien, Stafford VA. Patrick O'Brien, Lowville, Lyndsie Bushey, Adams Center, Timothy O'Brien, Gorham, ME.

Siblings, Eugene and Rosemarie Rasmussen, Anaheim Hills, Ca., June Paris, Hawaii. A brother, Louis, predeceased her.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266 Lowville, N.Y. 13367.
