NORWOOD — A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for 88-year old Mrs. Helene A. "Bobbie" Bregg on Thursday, June 25, 2009, at 10:00 AM at St. Andrew's Church in Norwood with Msgr. Harry Snow officiating. Burial will be in the Church of the Visitation BVM in Norfolk. Friends may call at the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.

Mrs. Bregg died at the Canton United Helpers Nursing Home on June 22, 2009. She was a resident of Norwood.

Helene A. "Bobbie" Bregg was born in Norfolk, NY September 15, 1920, the daughter of Francis Leon and Grace Castle Butler. She graduated from Norfolk High School in 1939 and trained for two years in the nursing program at St. Lawrence State Hospital until returning home to care for her father and younger siblings following the death of her mother.

She married Joseph A. Bregg in January 1942 and after Joe entered the Army during World War II she enlisted in the U. S. Navy WAVES as a Pharmacist Mate, honorably serving until her discharge in 1945. This marriage eventually ended in divorce, and she became employed at Niagara Mohawk Corp. in Potsdam where she remained until her retirement.

She was married to Milan "Pete" Stark in 1952 and continued to reside in Potsdam. "Pete" died August 24, 1978.

She was a volunteer worker for many years at the Potsdam Hospital and at Hospice.

"Bobbie" remarried Joseph A. Bregg on October 25, 1997 and resided in Norwood since that date.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph of Norwood, two stepsons: Joseph Jr. and his companion Ruth of Madrid, Jerry of Alaska, a step-grand-daughter, Sarah Bregg of Phoenix, NY, three sisters: Lorraine Richards of Norfolk, NY, Jean LaPlante of Escondido, CA, and Mrs. George (Joan) Puchta of West Islip, NY, and several nieces, nephews, and many friends. "Bobbie" was pre-deceased by a stepson Joey Bregg, and two brothers John and James Butler.

She was a member of the Potsdam American Legion Auxiliary, the Niagara Mohawk Retirees Association, and St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Norwood.

Donations to Hospice or the charity of choice.

Arrangements are with the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam.
