Margaret C. Stevens, 94, formerly of Skaneateles St., Jordan, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown, where she had resided since January 2001.

Born August 1, 1914 in Elbridge, daughter of George and Jennie North Church, she graduated from Elbridge High School and attended Central City Business Institute, Syracuse.

Mrs. Stevens worked at Dey Bros. Department Store, L. W. Singer Publishing Co. and retired from Key Bank in 1976.

She was a communicant of Christ Church, Jordan, for 72 years, a member of its Friendly Circle, and a former member of Ida Star Chapter OES #174.

She married Preston T. Stevens on January 30, 1937, at the home of her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. John L. Barr, with the Rev. Gordon Hess officiating. Mr. Stevens died November 27, 1991.

Surviving are a daughter and her husband, Bonnie S. and Gary L. Bird of Chaumont, and a son and his wife, John J. and Anne C. of Vestal; 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, a niece and a nephew.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Stevens was predeceased by a son, Preston T. Stevens, Jr. who died in infancy in 1944, and a sister, Theresa C. Yates in 1985.

The family will greet friends beginning at 11:30 at Christ Episcopal Church, Jordan, with a service to follow at 12 o'clock noon on Saturday, June 27th.
