REDWOOD — Theodore D. Beebe, 98, of 46795 Barnes Settlement Road, died Saturday afternoon at River Hospital, Alexandria Bay, where he had been a patient since Friday.
Ted was born April 20, 1911 in Alexandria Bay, son of Solon and Edna LaFave Beebe. He was educated in Alexandria Bay schools. A marriage to Valetta Wilder ended in divorce. He later married Ernestine Bender, who survives him.
Ted was owner of Beebe's Wrecker Service, Redwood, for many years until his retirement in 1996. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and local stock car racing. He was a member of the Alexandria Bay Fire Department for 80 years.
He is survived by his wife Ernestine, three sons, David (Sherry) Beebe, of Alexandria Bay, Edward Beebe of Theresa, and Timothy (Mary Lou) Beebe of Redwood, five daughters, Elizabeth Ann "Bette" Hewitt, Alexandria Bay, Arlene Carlisle, Liverpool, NY, Mrs. Donald (Sallie) Sanford, Alexandria Bay, Mrs. Edward (Jackie) Morley, Fayetteville, NC, and Cynthia Stevens, Liverpool, NY, 24 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers Vilas and Earl "Manny" Beebe, and three sisters Vida Hofferberth, Wava Fenner and Beatrice Mourick.
A memorial gathering will be held Wednesday evening from 6-9 pm, at the Alexandria Bay Fire Hall.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alexandria Bay Fire Department, the River Hospital Adult Day Care, or the charity of one's choice.
