In a June 18 letter to the editor in the Watertown Daily Times, Lois Compo accused Nancy O'Brien-Daily of being "biased" against all-terrain vehicles because she is suing the town of Lyonsdale for allegedly opening roads to ATV traffic illegally.

Apparently from her letter, Lois Compo is not concerned with the legalities of the issue but only with her wish to ride ATVs wherever she wishes; but let's take a look at who is really "biased."

Let's start with town board member Donald Gydesen who is not only an avid ATV rider but also passed around a petition that encouraged the town board to open roads to ATVs. Seems to be a bit biased to me.

Then we have town board member Ken Mooney, also an ATV enthusiast. Biased, I would say.

At the public hearing on opening the roads where, by the way, most of the Lyonsdale residents in attendance spoke against opening the roads, trail coordinator Bob Diehl said that Nancy shouldn't be allowed to vote because she spoke against opening the roads. Nancy correctly pointed out that others on the town board also had opinions, and if that was the case, well, then no one could vote. Mr. Diehl seems a bit biased, wouldn't you say?

The issue here is whether the Lyondsale Town Board acted legally or not. Sticking to the word of the law is apparently a discussion far too many ATV riders wish to avoid.

Oh, one last thing about being biased. Lois Compo failed to disclose when she wrote her letter to the paper that she is secretary for the Black River Valley 4-Wheelers Club. Biased, anyone?
