One-minute review: I first saw this movie in theaters 13 years ago. We have yet to have an alien attack on July 4. Hopefully your barbecue won't be ruined by crazy aliens wanting to take over the world. Don't worry though, Randy Quaid will sacrifice himself to save the world. And Will Smith will drag a dead alien body through some desert, even though the attacks only happen in NYC and Washington, DC. Can you explain to me why he has a Star Wars-like air chase in desolation? Whatever. Don't think about this movie too hard.
