Potsdam

Employee of the month: Eydie Bovay,Potsdam, medical-surgical nurse manager, was named employee of the month for June at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam.

She joined the hospital in 1984 and the respiratory therapy department in 2004. Ms. Bovay serves on many teams and safety committees, including the patient satisfaction, falls and medication teams.

She has undergone training in the Toyota program for hospital efficiency and recently received national certification in medical-surgical nursing. She is pursuing a bachelor's degree.

Watertown

Winners announced:The winners of the seventh annual Citizenship, Ambition and Responsibility in Education (CARE) award program were announced at a family breakfast May 30 at North Side Improvement League. Watertown Education Association's Community Outreach Committee; Northern Federal Credit Union; P&C, Seaway Plaza; and Price Chopper sponsored the program. The students, one from each grade level in Watertown schools, were nominated by teachers and selected by the CARE committee.

Selected for internship: Elizabeth C. Dixon,Gouverneur, is one of six students at St. Lawrence University, Canton, selected to be admissions interns this summer. Miss Dixon, a junior performance and communications arts major, is president of the Laurentian Singers co-ed choir, studied in London in 2008 and is a graduate of Gouverneur Central School.

Potsdam

Student honored: Julia Grigel,Potsdam, sophomore, has received highest honors at Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, for the spring semester. Miss Grigel is the daughter of Theresa Witmer and Glen Grigel, both of Potsdam.

Watertown

Graduates with highest honors: Chad J. Piche,son of Mary Dietterich, Watertown, has graduated magna cum laude from the International Academy of Design and Technology, Tampa, Fla. He is training at Morrisound Recording Studio and working with producer-songwriter Warren Allen Brooks at WAB Nation Records of Florida. He plans to pursue a master's degree at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia.
