R. Palmer Foote

LOUISVILLE — Mr. R. Palmer Foote "POM POM", 55, of 217 Kingsley Road, passed away Monday morning June 29, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family and best friend Bernie Pitts.

He was born March 30, 1954 in Westville, the son of Dr. Raymond P. and Mildred Mason Foote. He graduated from Salmon River Central School in 1972. Palmer married Deborah A. Tavernia on August 12, 1978 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Constable with Father Lamitie, officiating.

He worked as a draw bench operator at Alcoa for many years retiring in 2004. He also owned and operated Palmer's Protective Business until his retirement. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge #513, Massena, where he held the position of Junior Master of Ceremonies and Junior Deacon.

He was an avid Jeff Gordon NASCAR fan. He loved to paint and his frequent visits to the Via Main. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, especially watching his grandson, Sean, play hockey. He also admired all the activities of NASA.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah; 2 children, Nicole Foote and her companion, Raymond Duncan, and Brittany Foote and her fiancé, Travis Jandrew, Massena; his father, Dr. Raymond P. Foote, Massena; 6 loving grandchildren, Tyler O'Brien, Jeff and Emily Duncan, Sean, Katie, and Alycia Beattie; a sister, Shirley Lamb, Massena; and many loving nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Davis, officiating. The members of the Masonic Lodge will hold a service during his memorial service. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Westville.

Arrangements are with the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley or Grace United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
