PARISHVILLE — A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for 83-year old Mrs. Barbara A. Parker Thursday, July 2, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Church in Potsdam with Rev. Garry Giroux officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Hopkinton. Friends may call at the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mrs. Parker died at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital on June 28, 2009. She was a resident of Hopkinton.

Barbara was born in Hopkinton, NY November 28, 1925, the daughter of Howard and Catherine A. (Hosmer) Miller. She graduated from Hopkinton District High School. She was employed at Loblaw's Grocery in Massena as a meat cutter for several years.

Barbara married Vincent Joseph Parker October 14, 1948 in Ithaca, New York. Mr. Parker died May 12, 2000.

Survivors include her son, Steven (and wife Dottie) Parker of Parishville; one daughter, Mrs. John (Resa) Remington of Parishville; grandchildren Nicholas Remington, Benjamin A. Smith, Glenn Smith, Steven Parker, Jr., Kristina Parker Kaiser, Ward Remington, Brent Remington; 13 great grandchildren; two brothers, Harry (and wife Ida) Miller of Hopkinton, and Robert and wife Nancy Miller of N. Lawrence; and several nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by four brothers and two sisters. Barbara was a former member of Holy Cross Church in Hopkinton.

If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Potsdam Humane Society.

Arrangements are with the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam.
