DICKSON CENTER — A Funeral service and a Celebration of Life for Dale A. Arquiett 63, of Dickinson Center will be held today morning at 11 am at the Knapp Station Community Church with the Rev. Lee Sweeney officiating. Burial will take place in Mound Hill Cemetery in Nicholville. Visitation was Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Dale passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 25, 2009.
He is survived by his companion, Donna Sweet; five children, Christina Arquiett of Winthrop, Candy Arquiett of Houston, TX, Scott and Leigh Ann Arquiett of Newport, NH, Joshua Arquiett and companion Anna Burgess of Cambridge, MD, and Nikia Arquiett of Potsdam, six grandchildren; Brandon and Bonita Arquiett; Jesse and Madison Arquiett, Amber Corriveau; and Ethan Arquiett. Also surviving are his twelve siblings; Beverly and James Gauthier of Brasher Falls, William and Keitha Arquiett of Brasher Falls, Wayne and Michelle Arquiett of Winthrop, Patricia Arquiett of Winthrop, Linda Hartson of Winthrop, Colin and Dawn Arquiett of Brasher Falls, Steven and Missy Arquiett of Winthrop, Kathy Ward of Ogdensburg, Karen and Christopher LaMora of Rochester, Sherry and Kevin Shaver of Ogdensburg, Sheila and Chris Sharland of Walcott, and Mechelle and Paul Arquitt of Red Creek. Two brother-in-laws predeceased him, Douglas Hartson Sr. and Wayne Arquiett.
Dale was born on January 25, 1946 in Massena to the late Anthony J. and Iva I. (Fletcher) Arquiett. He graduated from St. Lawrence Central School in 1965. He married Bonnie Schloer on July 2, 1966, which ended in divorce and on October 3, 1980 he married Cheri Hageland, which ended in divorce.
Anyone who knew Dale knew he was a hard worker, so he was employed by many different companies. He first worked for the St. Lawrence County Highway Dept. After which he worked for Danko Construction, Eakins Farms, Maple View Farm in Madrid, Jacobs Excavation, Helfter Construction, and currently was working as a caretaker for Al Towers.
Dale was an avid NASCAR fan. He enjoyed spending his evenings out on the Gazebo. Dale took pleasure in having campfires, those who lovingly knew him will always remember the best steaks they ever ate where his "steaks on the fire."
For those wishing to do so, memorial contributions in Dale's honor may be made to the Nicholville Volunteer Fire Dept. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
