BOSTON — Watertown native Kenny Nims will participate in the Major League Lacrosse All-Star game on July 16 in Denver.
Nims, a two-time All-American at Syracuse University, will play attack on the Young Guns squad — which is comprised of players who graduated from college between 2007-09. As the top overall pick in this year's MLL draft, Nims has contributed four goals and seven assists for the Chicago Machine.
Joining Nims on the Young Guns team as a coach is John Combs — a former Immaculate Heart Central and SUNY Potsdam player. Combs is in his second year as Chicago's head coach.
Along with Nims's all-star nod came an endorsement deal with Brine's research and development team. The Most Outstanding Player of this year's NCAA Division I tournament inked a contract with the sporting goods company last week.
■ Immaculate Heart Central graduate Brendan Loftus has supplied eight goals in six games for the Chicago Machine this season. The former Syracuse midfielder is seventh on the team in scoring.
Loftus tied a season high with three goals Saturday in a 16-14 home loss to Washington.
