A Watertown man was sentenced Friday in Jefferson County Court to three years in state prison for selling cocaine and having a loaded shotgun at his apartment.
Immanuel G. Harper,27, of 73 Public Square, was recommended by Judge Kim H. Martusewicz to participate in the state prison system's Willard Drug Rehabilitation Program. If he successfully completes the 90-day program, he will be eligible to serve the remainder of his sentence under parole supervision.
He pleaded guilty June 22 to attempted third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He also admitted violating his five-year probation term, which started in March 2008, by being charged with a new crime.
Mr. Harper was accused of selling cocaine in early September and early January in Watertown. In a separate case, he was accused of having a loaded shotgun in his apartment April 8.
In other court activity Friday:
Ryan P. Clement,23, Wilton Road, Great Bend, was sentenced to time served and three years' probation for a June 9 guilty plea to petit larceny and an admission to a probation violation. He pleaded guilty to petit larceny after being charged April 2 with breaking into his father's business, the Burrville Sawmill, and stealing money from a cash box.
At the time, he was serving five years' probation imposed in November 2005 for a September 2005 guilty plea to second-degree forgery.
He had been charged in that incident with forging a check belonging to his father's business. He violated probation by being charged with the new crime.
Cherisse T. Umpierre,31, of 24988 Cooper Ave., Calcium, pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted disseminating indecent materials to a minor, second-degree criminal contempt and endangering the welfare of a child. She is expected to be sentenced Sept. 18 to three years' probation.
She entered her pleas using an Alford plea, meaning she did not admit to the underlying facts in the case, but did not want to risk taking the matter to trial.
She had been accused in a grand jury indictment handed up in March of sending graphic nude photos of herself Sept. 13 to a 16-year-old boy with whom she was allegedly having a relationship.
It also had been alleged that she sent the e-mailed photos in violation of an order of protection issued on the youth's behalf from Carthage Village Court. It was further alleged that she sent other e-mails to the youth on Fort Drum in September and that she sent other correspondence to the boy, through a third party, from September until January.
