HERMON — Wanita F. O'Shea, age 85, recently of Hermon, died on August 2, 2009 at United Helpers Nursing Home, Ogdensburg.

She was born on September 4, 1923 to the late Joseph and Lydia (Emlaw) Jesmer. She attended school in Gouverneur where she grew up as a child. She married Leon Plowman and the couple lived in Adair, Iowa. While there, Wanita worked as an egg candler for Parrot Produce for 17 years. Mr. Plowman died in 1968 and Wanita came back to Northern New York in 1969.

Wanita married Elmer "Bob" O'Shea in 1989. The couple lived briefly in Dekalb before moving to Hermon. Mrs. O'Shea enjoyed reading and watching television.

Her survivors include her husband of Hermon, her son, David L. Plowman of Gouverneur, nine step sons and two step daughters from her second marriage, two grandchildren Christopher and Kourtni Plowman of Gouverneur and one great grandchild Ayden Brown of Gouverneur. She is also survived by many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her step son from her first marriage, Dean Plowman, and all of her brothers and sisters.

There will be a memorial service held at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur on Friday, August 7, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Wanita will be cremated and her ashes are to be buried next to her first husband in Sunnyhill Cemetery in Adair, Iowa.

Donations in her memory may be made to the United Helpers Nursing Home, Ogdensburg.
