At the Fineview, Jolly Oaks, Peel Dock Road Homeowners Association (whose primary purpose is neighbors helping neighbors) meeting on July 26, concerns were brought up that need to be addressed.
It was reported by two members of two separate incidents of cars passing their cars on the double line going considerably more than the 30 miles an hour allowed by law toward Thousand Island Park.
One member reported following the speeding car that had committed the violation to Thousand Island Park, where in the driveway, the violator was confronted with having passed and speeded illegally. The owner of the car responded, "You were going 20 miles an hour," which was not true.
The other member was passed on the double line by a car headed toward Thousand Island Park going over 60 miles an hour. That car was followed and didn't slow down until the curve just before the swimming beach, and the license plate was reported to security at Thousand Island Park.
There are many bicycle riders, runners and walkers along County Route 100 at all times of the day. A large number of these people live in Thousand Island Park. The Homeowners Association lobbied to get the speed limit to 30 mph on the road through Fineview and 45 mph on the straightaway to the bridge.
We would like to bring this concern to everyone's attention. Please notify your family, friends and renters who might not be familiar with the road in our community.
