LOWVILLE — A Martinsburg man admitted last week in Lewis County Court to possessing and selling heroin last August.
George Santos Jr.,37, Martinsburg, pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and single counts of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
He is to be sentenced as a second felony offender Oct. 16.
Mr. Santos was charged Aug. 28 with possessing heroin and scales in the town of Martinsburg and with selling the drug Aug. 27 and 28.
Also in Lewis County Court on Thursday,Jesse G. Fort III,20, of 7815 Boliver Road, had his case of first-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child adjourned to Aug. 26.
He is accused of having sexual contact with a girl under the age of 11 in December 2007 in the town of Croghan.

Jacob Gearhart,16, of 3830 Vary Road, pleaded guilty to third-degree burglary. Sentencing was set for Oct. 16.
He was charged with breaking into the Beaver Falls library March 13.
Ryan W. Granger,29, Sharp Street, had his case of third- and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third- and fourth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance adjourned to Aug. 21, with a possible trial date of Sept. 14.
Mr. Granger was charged with possessing heroin and methylphenidate, the generic equivalent of Ritalin, on Jan. 22 in the village of Lowville and with selling Suboxone on Jan. 3 and Vicodin on Jan. 13.
Robin M. Zwart,55, Utica, had his third-degree grand larceny case adjourned to Sept. 25, with a possible trial date of Dec. 7.
Mr. Zwart was charged with collecting $9,921.36 in public assistance benefits through the Lewis County Department of Social Services to which he was not entitled between Nov. 6 and 29, 2006.
The former Brantingham resident failed to report an inheritance while continuing to accept benefits, according to Lewis County sheriff's deputies.
Ronald V. Herzig II,34, of 27997 Cramer Road, South Rutland, had his case of felony driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right and having an inadequate brake light adjourned to Sept. 11.
Mr. Herzig was stopped Dec. 28 on Route 126 in the town of New Bremen.
Jeannette E. Parker,22, of 9768 Main St., Croghan, had her case of fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree harassment adjourned to Sept. 11. Ms. Parker was charged with shoving Sade D. Emerson and damaging his 32-inch television March 22 in the town of Croghan.
