Chase ends in DWI charge

The following motorists were charged with driving while intoxicated and related offenses:

■ Patricia L. Oatridge, 42, Lorraine, was charged by state police with felony DWI, third-degree fleeing a police officer, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, speeding and other traffic violations after being stopped at 5:10 p.m. Saturday at a residence on County Route 96 in the town of Worth. She allegedly had a BAC of 0.13 percent. State law says a BAC of 0.08 percent or higher constitutes intoxication.

Troopers said they observed Ms. Oatridge speeding on Route 177 in the town of Rodman, then chased her on county routes 189 and 96 at speeds up to 81 mph.

She was arraigned before Watertown Town Justice Andrew N. Capone, sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and released on $500 bail.

■ Nicole C. Cagino, 25, of 128 Pine Drive, Black River, was charged by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies with felony DWI and moving from a lane unsafely at 3:56 a.m. Saturday on Route 12F in the town of Hounsfield. She allegedly had a BAC of 0.15 percent.

Ms. Cagino was arraigned before Hounsfield Town Justice Gary A. Loomis, committed to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and later released on $500 bail.

■ Samuel J. Gallop, 25, of 33579 Broadwell Road, Theresa, was charged Saturday night after he lost control of his vehicle while driving on North Woods Road in the town of Fowler, causing it go off the road and strike a large rock before coming to rest in a ditch, state police said. Mr. Gallop suffered a shoulder injury and was transported to E.J. Noble Hospital, Gouverneur.

Troopers said a sample of Mr. Gallop's blood was taken to determine his blood alcohol concentration, and the result was not yet available.

■ Robert V. Williams, 60, Watertown, was charged by state police at 11:25 p.m. Saturday on Route 37 in the town of Pamelia. He allegedly had a BAC of 0.14 percent.

■ Jennifer K. Mercante, 22, of 1380 Washington St., Watertown, also was charged by Watertown police with failure to keep right at 3 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Mullin Street. Police said she pulled out in front of a patrol car and nearly hit another vehicle. She allegedly had a BAC of 0.13 percent.

■ Marcus A. Garcia, 22, of 10111 N. Riva Ridge Loop, Fort Drum, was charged by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies with felony DWI, running a red light and making an improper U-turn at 9:20 p.m. Saturday on Arsenal Street in Watertown. He allegedly refused to submit to a breathalyzer test.

Mr. Garcia was arraigned before Watertown Town Justice Andrew N. Capone and committed to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $1,000 bail.

The DWI charge was a felony due to a prior DWI conviction within the past 10 years.
