Deathwatch - Week 3
So it seems, at least in the early going, that this whole watch-only-English-speaking-films thing is becoming rather difficult.
Here's why:
1. Some of the more famous foreign films I do want to see.
2. There seems to be a rather large number (or at least larger than I thought there would be) of foreign films in my "1,0001 Movies You Must See Before You Die" book.
I came to this realization as I was preloading my Netflix queue. Through the letter A, I loaded or already viewed 32 English-language films. There are 37 foreign films just under 'A.'
I don't know what to make of this, but I blame the French and starting every French film with either 'A' or 'Le.' Damn French. I think it might be an anomaly, but I'll keep you updated on this developing story.
And in other news:
I've only watched one movie so far this week. My recovery from 1900 is to blame. I am, too, because I re-watched Henry Poole is Here, which is a highly underrated film.
-
The movie I did watch from the list was An Affair to Remember from 1957. It was fairly enjoyable, but after seeing 52 years worth of chick flicks, became rather rudimentary.
There is some excitement ahead this week for movies:
Aileen Wuornos: The Selling of a Serial Killer
Alice.
I doubt I will get to much else because I'm covering Syracuse football's season opener against Minnesota on Saturday and two new movies come to Watertown, so I will also review those. I also inadvertently lost a day when I forgot to update my queue and received Their Eyes Were Watching God, which didn't even make it to theaters. (Rightfully so, by the way.)
A bonus for those who have read to the end:
There is a special surprise Wednesday at noon here on 'A Film Fan's Notes.' So check back then, you will (hopefully) be very excited. I know I would be.
