Drum colonel nominated for promotion

FORT DRUM — The new deputy commander for support and operations of the 10th Mountain Division has been nominated for promotion to brigadier general.

Col. Jeffrey L. Bannister assumed his new command Aug. 4 and will receive his first star once his nomination has been confirmed.

Col. Bannister previously was the commander of the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colo. He replaced Brig. Gen. Jeffrey S. Buchanan, who deployed with the division to Baghdad.

Col. Bannister has deployed to Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq.
