Police cite several in NNY with DWI

An allegedly intoxicated teenage motorist is accused of pulling into a Main Street parking lot early Wednesday in Potsdam to relieve herself.

Gabrielle J. Sobek, 19, Carthage, was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and alcohol, drinking alcohol in a car and public urination, Potsdam village police said. The drug in her system wasn't known.

A passenger, Deonna G. Johnson, 23, Watertown, was charged with drinking alcohol in a car.

The following are charged with driving while intoxicated and related offenses:

■ Dava M. Williams, 37, of 3214 Route 37, Fort Covington, was charged early Thursday with aggravated DWI, state police said.

Police said her BAC was 0.22 percent when her vehicle was stopped on Route 56 in Norfolk. Aggravated DWI is charged when the BAC is 0.18 percent or more. She also was charged with failure to keep right, speeding and following too closely.

■ Joe T. Ortiz, 31, Fort Drum, also is charged by Watertown police with failing to signal a turn and driving on the sidewalk, cited at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of Park Drive. Police listed his breath test result as 0.16 percent blood alcohol content. State law establishes 0.08 percent BAC as the threshold for intoxication.

■ Jason J. Tombari, 31, Medina, was arrested at 3:25 a.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of Coffeen Street by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies, and also faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident, failure to yield right of way, unlawful possession of marijuana and refusal to submit to a breath test. He was released on $500 bail, set by town of Watertown Justice James P. McClusky.

Deputies said the accident occurred shortly before 2:20 a.m. on the northbound on-ramp of Interstate 81 at Arsenal Street. He made a left turn without yielding to an auto driven by F.C. Taranto Jr., 54, Adams, deputies alleged. There were no injuries.

■ Brandon W. Hellinger, 21, Lowville, additionally was cited with speeding at 45 mph in a 30-mph zone and unlawful possession of marijuana following his arrest by Watertown police at 1:35 a.m. Thursday in the 1100 block of Columbia Street. His test result was 0.10 percent, police said.

■ Yarbrough J. Latulas, 25, of 522 Cayuga Ave., was arrested by sheriff's deputies at 2:25 a.m. Thursday on Mill Street and additionally was cited with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, driving on the shoulder of the street and unlawful possession of marijuana. He tested at 0.08 percent, according to the sheriff's office. He was taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building after Justice McClusky set bail at $250.

His passenger, Stefan T. Corpening, 21, of 119 Wyoming Ave., was cited with disorderly conduct because he shouted obscenities and ignored orders to quiet down, police said.

■ Jonathan A. Wood, 40, of 231 Winslow St., Apt. 2, Watertown, was arrested by Watertown police at 3 a.m. Friday in the 300 block of Gotham Street, and additionally cited is with unlawful possession of marijuana, having loud exhaust and having inadequate lights. Police listed his test reading as 0.12 percent BAC.

■ Randall J. Bell, 37, of 515 Emerson St., Apt. 1, Watertown, also is charged with having loud exhaust after being arrested at 2:30 a.m. Friday in the 500 block of Emerson Street. He tested at 0.08 percent BAC, according to city police.
