Deathwatch – Week 4

It has been a good week so far, aside from a bad cold. I watched Alien, Aliens and All About Eve.

Interesting note on Alien and All About Eve: Both are preserved in the US National Film Registry

That whole concept is funny to me. What are we preserving them for? Is it so some extra-terrestrial life form, long after we're dead and gone can come and watch our movies? I don't know. It seems a bit ridiculous to me. These films have hundreds and millions of copies around the world. If mankind gets wiped out, who's going to care if some being watches Miracle on 34th Street, which is also in the registry?

What would happen if the first future creature stumbles upon the registry and chooses 2001: A Space Odyssey to watch? That thing will laugh hysterically... or fall asleep.
