Canton woman charged with third-degree assault

CANTON — Vanessa M. Badlam, 22, of 11 W. Main St., was arrested at 8:15 p.m. Saturday on a third-degree assault charge stemming from an incident that occurred at 1:30 a.m. Sept. 13, according to village police. On that morning, Ms. Badlam allegedly punched and shoved a 21-year-old woman on Park Street in the village.

Ms. Badlam is to appear Sept. 22 in Village Court.

Watertown pair charged following domestic fight

Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies arrested Priscilla D. Powless, 31, and Chad D. Scheg, 33, both of 16911 Ives St. Road Extension, Watertown, after a domestic dispute at the residence.

Deputies charged Ms. Powless with fourth-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. Deputies said Ms. Powless punched and kicked holes in the bedroom door of Julie A. Persica, 35, same address, and continued violent behavior after deputies arrived.

Deputies charged Mr. Scheg with second-degree menacing and second-degree harassment. Deputies said Mr. Scheg verbally threatened Bradley A. Dadson, 17, same address and displayed a kitchen knife in a threatening manner.

The two were arraigned in Watertown Town Court and will face prosecution there.

Police say man assaulted wife while she was driving

A Fort Drum man faces misdemeanor charges after he allegedly grabbed, shook, punched and climbed on his wife while she was driving.

Gustavo Ruiz, 30, of 9651 Butler Loop Apt. B, was arrested by Watertown police on the 500 block of Coffeen Street at 6:39 p.m. Saturday.

Police said Mr. Ruiz caused his wife, Johnetta T. Ruiz, to swerve and nearly strike a parked car in the 300 block of Coffeen Street and then swerve into oncoming traffic and come within a foot of hitting a utility pole. The couple's 1-year-old daughter was also in the vehicle.

Police charged Mr. Ruiz with second-degree reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child. He was held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building pending arraignment Sunday in Town Court.

Natural Bridge teenager jailed on assault charge

Logan Moore, 16, of 43971 Church St., Natural Bridge, was arrested by state police around 3 a.m. Sunday after a 1 a.m. assault incident in the town of Champion.

He was charged with second-degree assault and second-degree reckless endangerment. He is being held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $5,000 bail.

Fort Drum man facingseveral charges after stop

Watertown police arrested Brandon J. Anderson, 21, of 10232 N. Riva Ridge Loop Apt. 224, Fort Drum, at 3:10 a.m. Sunday on the 100 block of Union Street.

City police charged him with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, improper plates, improper plate display, driving an unregulated motor vehicle with no or expired insurance. He was also arraigned in Watertown Town Court on Sunday for an outstanding disorderly conduct charge from May 31.

He was held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $200 bail. He faces prosecution on all of the charges in City Court.

Staten Island man cited over stolen license plates

LOWVILLE — Village police charged August C. Engel Jr., 48, Staten Island, at 9 a.m. Sunday with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Police said he had license plates that were reported stolen from New York City. He was issued appearance tickets for Village Court.
