Watertown resident cited

with hitting man with bat

A Watertown man faces a charge that he struck another man in the head with a baseball bat.

Jason L. Haas, 26, of 1620 Huntington St., Apt. M-7, was charged by city police about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

It is alleged that about 11 p.m. Monday at 210 Central St., he hit Corey A. Espey, 633 Academy St., in the head with a bat, causing a large bump on the victim's head. Mr. Haas faces a weapon-possession charge because he had been convicted of second-degree criminal contempt in November 2001 in Lyme Town Court, making it illegal for him to have the bat.

He also was charged with criminal mischief for allegedly damaging a fish tank belonging to Shannon L. Sayyeau during the altercation with Mr. Espey at her residence. The tank was valued at about $300.

Mr. Haas will answer the charges in City Court.

Potsdam man is charged

with second-degree rape

POTSDAM — A Potsdam man faces a charge that he had sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl in 2004.

Joshua J. Devine, 25, address not available, was charged by village police Tuesday with second-degree rape after an investigation allegedly revealed he had sexual contact with the teenager in fall 2004.

He also was charged with endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly providing marijuana earlier this month to a 14-year-old girl and allowing her to smoke the drug in his presence at his apartment.

He was arraigned in Parishville Town Court before Justice Dean F. Wilson and sent to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on $5,000 bail.

Chaumont woman cited

with hitting, kicking man

CHAUMONT — A village woman faces a charge that she punched and repeatedly kicked a Clayton man.

Tamara C. Fitzpatrick, 19, of 27438 Madison St., was charged by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies Monday with second-degree harassment.

It is alleged she punched Elisha D. Baker, 32827 Clayton Center Road, in the face and kicked him during an incident Thursday at Nice N Easy, 12345 Route 12E. She is to answer the charge in Lyme Town Court.

Norfolk teenager accused

of shoving state trooper

NORFOLK — A 17-year-old boy is accused of shoving a state trooper.

Codi G. Burke, of 15 Morris St., was charged Tuesday with resisting arrest and second-degree harassment, state police said.

He was arraigned in Town Court and sent to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on $1,000 bail or $2,000 bond.

Teen accused of hitting

another with glass bottle

CARTHAGE — A Natural Bridge teenager faces a charge that he cut a man's head with a vodka bottle.

Logan M. Moore, 16, of 43971 Church St., was charged by state police Sunday with second-degree assault and second-degree reckless endangerment for allegedly hitting Jeffery D. Carr, 18, with the liquor bottle during a fight at a town of Champion residence. The victim suffered a nearly 2-inch cut on his head, troopers said.

Mr. Moore was arraigned in Champion Town Court and sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $5,000 bail.

Theresa woman accused

of causing door damage

EVANS MILLS — A Theresa woman faces a charge that she damaged a door as she moved out of her former home here.

Christy L. Hansen, 43, of 222 Commercial St., was charged by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies Monday with fourth-degree criminal mischief.

The charge stemmed from a complaint by her husband, Richard V. Hansen, of 31171 Route 37, that she intentionally damaged a door, its frame and a dead-bolt mechanism while she was removing personal property from the residence Aug. 26.

She is to answer the charge in LeRay Town Court.

Watertown man charged

with violating court order

Ryan M. Martin, 24, of 213 S. Meadow St., Apt. 1, was charged by Watertown police at 8:45 p.m. Monday with criminal contempt.

It is alleged that he violated an order of protection issued in City Court by entering the residence of his brother, Patrick J., 108 S. Orchard St., about 2:45 p.m. Monday.

He is to answer the charge in City Court.
