An allegedly intoxicated driver trying to avoid a deer on Red Lake Road in Theresa flipped the vehicle he was operating Friday night, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.
Jordan L. Dwyer, 25, of 35992 County Route 136, Theresa, admitted to consuming six or seven beers before operating his vehicle, deputies said.
They said his blood alcohol content was 0.17 percent, which exceeds the state's 0.08 percent threshold for intoxication.
Initial emergency dispatches indicated a passenger injured her shoulder during the accident. A police report identified that person as Nichol A. Borland, 25, no address given. She refused to be taken by ambulance to the hospital, a dispatcher said.
The following also were charged with DWI and related offenses:
■ Maryrose McLaughlin, 26, Liverpool, was stopped by Watertown police early Saturday on the 200 block of Stone Street. Her BAC was 0.11 percent, police said. She also was charged with driving the wrong way on a one-way street. She was released from the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building after posting $250 bail.
■ Kristen H. Napiorski, 35, of West Chester, Pa., was charged by Potsdam village police at 11:02 p.m. Friday on Maple Street with aggravated driving while intoxicated, refusal to take a breath test and having inadequate headlights and taillights. Police said her BAC was 0.22 percent. Aggravated DWI is charged when the BAC is 0.18 percent or more.
■ Lynn G. Gardner, 54, Star Lake, was charged by state police at 3:56 p.m. Friday on Riverside Drive in Clifton. She was pulled over by state park rangers after a tip that she was intoxicated, police said. Her BAC was 0.09 percent, they said.
■ Nichole Bennett, 24, Ogdensburg, also was charged Friday with passing a red light when she was stopped on Elm Street, Potsdam village police said. She registered a 0.17 percent BAC, police said.
