Potsdam police probing
assault in village Sunday
POTSDAM — Village police are looking for a college-aged man who assaulted another man on Elm Street early Sunday.
The suspect was described as white male, about 6 feet 5 inches tall with a medium build and short hair. The assault happened about 1 a.m. Sunday in the area of HSBC Bank and Key Bank. The victim was injured.
The suspect was wearing a white T-shirt with "World Champion" written on it. Anyone with information can call Potsdam Village Police at 265-2121.
Black River man jailed
after domestic dispute
BLACK RIVER — A man was jailed Sunday evening following a domestic fight during which he allegedly threw a boot at a television, smashing the screen.
Ahwarahlayan S. King, 26, of 304 Stone Drive, was charged by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony, in connection with the incident in his home. He was placed in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, Watertown, with bail set at $1,000 by town of Watertown Justice Anthony N. Capone.
The complaint for an arrest was signed by a 28-year-old woman, not identified, who lives with him, according to the court file.
Man faces conduct count
after fight in Carthage
CARTHAGE — Craig O. Copley Jr., 27, of 439 Sherman St., was charged early Saturday with disorderly conduct, and is summoned to appear in Village Court, according to Carthage police.
He was involved in a fight on Alexandria Street and ignored orders to leave, police said.
Police say two teen boys
grew pot in cat litter box
CLAYTON — Two boys, ages 14 and 15, admitted to a state trooper Saturday that they had a marijuana plant growing in a cat litter box.
The juveniles were charged with growing marijuana without a permit, a misdemeanor under state public health law, and are due to appear in Family Court.
Police said the plant was discovered by a resident on County Route 181 in the town of Clayton. The trooper conducted several interviews, leading him to the two youths, police said.
Man hospitalized, brother
arrested following fight
One man was hospitalized, and his brother was arrested, after the two got into a fight Sunday night in their home on Clinton Street, according to Watertown police.
Theodore E. Dunnigan, 48, of 220 Clinton St., faces prosecution in City Court on charges of third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child. His brother, Louis W., 46, who lost consciousness after being punched in the face several times, was treated at Samaritan Medical Center.
Police said the fight broke out when Louis, owner of the house, complained to Theodore that he was not living up to an agreement in which he would do some household work in lieu of rent. The alleged assault occurred in the presence of a 14-year-old girl, police said.
