Here's the calendar issued by the state Board of Elections that all 11 counties in the 23rd Congressional District will use to run this special election. It's not available on the state Board of Elections Web site, so I thought I'd share it with you.

PARTY NOMINATIONS- Last day to file certificate of nomination: Oct. 9
- Last day to accept or decline nomination: Oct. 13
- Last day to authorize nomination: Oct. 13
- Last day to file substitution to fill vacancy created by a declination: Oct. 13
- Last day to authorize substitution: Oct. 19
INDEPENDENT NOMINATING PETITIONSAn individual looking to run as an independent would have to collect 3,500 valid signatures in 14 days.
- First day to sign: Sept. 29
- Last day to file petition: Oct. 13
- Last day to accept or decline nomination: Oct. 13
- Last day to file substitution to fill vacancy created by a declination: Oct. 15
REGISTRATION CUT-OFF DATES- Last day to mail (postmark) registration form: Oct. 9
- Last day for Board of Elections to receive mail registration form: Oct. 14
- Last day to register in person at the Board of Elections: Oct. 23
ABSENTEE BALLOTS- Last day to postmark application by mail: Oct. 27
- Last day to apply in person at board of elections for absentee ballot: Nov. 2
- Last day to postmark absentee ballot: Nov. 2
- Last day to deliver absentee ballot in person to board of elections: Nov. 3
- Last day for the board of elections to receive absentee ballot by mail: Nov. 10
- Last day for the board of elections to receive military and special federal ballots by mail: Nov. 16
