CANTON — An Ogdensburg man on Monday in St. Lawrence County Court denied sexual abuse of a young girl dating back to 2003.

Edward J. Woods Jr.,38, of 923 Franklin St., pleaded innocent before Judge Jerome J. Richards to course of sexual conduct against a child and five counts of second-degree sexual abuse.

He is accused of having sexual contact with a girl, beginning when she was 7, two or more times in Ogdensburg between the fall of 2003 and the fall of 2005. He also allegedly touched the same girl's genitals three times in the fall or late winter of 2008 and put his mouth to her breast twice, in February 2008 and in the fall of 2008.

Judge Richards signed a protection order for the victim and instructed Woods not to have unsupervised contact with children 17 and younger and to abide by a 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily curfew. He was released to probation supervision.

In other court proceedings:

Dorothy M. Moore,55, of 15027 Route 37, Louisville, was sentenced to five years' probation for a conviction to third-degree criminal possession of marijuana.

She admitted in June to possessing 10.7 pounds of marijuana on May 21 in the town of Louisville.
