This is in regard to the letter by Gary Kohler on Monday. Fall is fast approaching, and those beautiful leaves end up on the ground, in peoples' lawns and yards. One big chore of getting ready for winter is the cleanup, along with packing or throwing stuff away until spring arrives again.

This brings me to the subject of the closing of the Croghan transfer site on Thursdays. When told that this decision was to save money, I was floored. To close the place for a day and not take in any money for tipping fees, saves money? Is this rational thinking? Why does it seem that Lewis County officials make these decisions, with no regard to what the people's views or opinions are? Is it to show that they have the power?

Now that the county has closed the transfer site for one day, is this going to lead us down the path they've already attempted? To close it permanently? Maybe if the county was to close this site, they could utilize their employees in picking up trash off the roadsides. It seems to be getting worse all the time. So as per Mr. Kohler, Croghan residents should get out and vote for someone who will back the people, instead of stick you in the back.
