The guys made it back in safely late Sunday afternoon. Most of them still got to see the Patriots lose to the Broncos.

I spoke with coach Joe Marsh on the phone and he said he was pleased with how the weekend went. He said the Saints played five out of six periods well. The one he thought they struggled in was the third period against UMass-Lowell.

"We were just trying to do too much," Marsh said.

He didn't mention any specific players he was particularly impressed with, but he said getting a big win over Army was a good accomplishment just two games in.

“They played very well against University of Nebraska-Omaha,” he said. “That was a very good team.”

The only negative from the weekend: penalties.

The Saints gave up three power-play goals — two to Army and one to UML. St. Lawrence endured 13 penalties in the two games.

“That's something we're going to work on,” he said. “It wasn't anything malice, just hooking, holding and things like that.”

There were no major injuries or any other problems Marsh mentioned of the weekend. I'm heading to practice Monday to talk to him and the players about the upcoming weekend games with Niagara and RIT.

I'll also have the first in my “Get to Know a Saint” series, in which I'll ask a St. Lawrence player 10 questions on camera and post that video here on the blog. I will talk to Canton native Kyle Flanagan this week. Do you have any questions you'd like to ask him? Submit them in the comments or e-mail me at dcassavaugh@wdt.net.
