Clarkson alum Steve Zalewski has been called up by the National Hockey League's San Jose Sharks and will make his NHL debut tonight against the Phoenix Coyotes.

Zalewski, who was part of Clarkson's 2007 ECAC Hockey championship squad and graduated in 2008, spent all of last season with the American Hockey League's Worcester Sharks.

He saw some NHL action in preseason contests the past two seasons.

Zalewski had one goal for Worcester in three games this season. Last year he scored 13 goals with 26 assists in 75 games. He also played briefly in the 2007-08 season after Clarkson's season ended and scored two goals with four assists in seven games.

Zalewski finished his Clarkson career with 58 goals and 50 assists in 151 games.

I'll have an update on Zalewski's debut in tomorrow's look at Clarkson's pro players entry.
