As I read the Oct. 4 paper, I found it very disheartening that you would consider "Sotomayor gives court new life," front-page news. In the article it states Justice David Souter never danced the salsa in public, Justice John Paul Stevens doesn't sing in karaoke bars, and Chief Justice John Roberts hasn't thrown out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium. This article was surrounded by the articles "Death toll expected to rise as landslides wipe out villages" and "Afghan officer kills U.S. soldiers."
I can't understand how anything gets done with the present administration. President Obama has been traveling the world apologizing for the American people and making our country weaker and weaker every day. He has appeared on David Letterman, which is not someone I would want to be associated with in light of the recent sex scandals that Letterman has publicly admitted to in recent days.
While President Obama voted "present" on sending more troops to Afghanistan and soldier's lives are being lost every day, he sees nothing wrong with spending thousands and thousands of dollars to fly out to Copenhagen to practically beg for the 2016 Olympics. A lot of good that did the American people. It only put us more in debt. You would never know that we were in a recession with all the traveling that is being done.
Maybe if President Obama took a more hands-on approach and actually sat down on discussing the particulars of the health care bill he is trying to push through with urgency so he can make history, he would never again have to say, "Well, I am not familiar with that section of the bill."
Another thing I find interesting is that every time someone brings up the recession he whines, "I inherited this mess." President Obama should stop whining because he knew what he was getting into when he ran for the presidency. It is just like in everyday life when someone leaves the workplace and an error is found, it is always blamed on the guy who just left. Quit whining and get us out of this mess. It just keeps getting worse every day.
I pray that my children and grandchildren are not saddled in so much debt because of this administration. I also pray for all the innocent unborn children who are murdered every day and will never get to experience life. The United States is the greatest country to live in, and I pray that we can stay as strong as ever. God bless America.
