ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — The National Republican Committee is sending a big influx of cash to its candidate in New York's 23rd Congressional race, but officials wouldn't give specifics.
An RNC official says the committee will make a six-figure contribution to the National Republican Congressional Committee in support of state Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava (scohz-uh-FAHV'-uh), but declined to be specific.
The RNC is also giving $85,000 to the New York state party in support of Scozzafava.
The other candidates in the Nov. 3 race are Democrat William Owens, a Plattsburgh lawyer; and Conservative Douglas Hoffman, a Lake Placid accountant.
The district spans 11 counties in central and northern New York.
Republican Rep. John McHugh vacated the seat to become secretary of the Army.
