Here is a list of the groups and individuals that backed a candidate in the 23rd Congressional District race since Oct. 8:
Dierdre K. Scozzafava, Republican and Independence parties candidate:
■ New York State United Teachers, which has 33,000 members in the district. The union has promised financial support, but also volunteers to work on the campaign.
"It's about feet on the street," Alan B. Lubin, the union's vice president, said in a statement. "NYSUT's endorsement translates into a massive volunteer effort. It also translates into support from the largest union phone-bank operation in the state."
■ Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence Central Trades and Labor Council, Gouverneur.
■ Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local No. 2, Albany, which has 1,500 members who live in upstate New York.
■ Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich; U.S. Reps. Peter T. King, R-Seaford, and Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas; state Sen. Joseph A. Griffo, R-Rome; Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb, R-Canandaigua, former Assemblywoman Frances T. Sullivan.
Ms. Scozzafava also received an "A" rating from the Oswego County Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs. The organization has 21 affiliated clubs with a combined membership of more than 2,000.
William L. Owens, Democratic Party candidate:
■ The Working Families Party, New York City, which supports progressive candidates who prioritize middle-class issues such as job creation, equitable taxes, reliable public transportation, affordable housing and universal health care.
The party has a ballot line, which it has given to Mr. Owens. It also has a for-profit arm, Data and Field Services, which can aid candidates with canvassing neighborhoods and phone bank work.
It sent a few staff members to the north country in February 2008 to help then-Assemblyman Darrel J. Aubertine during the 48th state Senate District special election.
Spokesman Bryan Collinsworth said the party is committed to seeing Mr. Owens win.
"In terms of what it comes down to to make that happen, we're still figuring that out," he said Friday.
Douglas L. Hoffman, Conservative Party candidate
■ The Conservative Victory Fund, Washington, D.C., which provides financial help and in-kind assistance, including consulting, to its endorsed candidates.
