Police: Sandy Creek man
fled patrol at 90 mph
A Sandy Creek man led a Jefferson County sheriff's patrol on an estimated 90-mph chase Sunday morning because he was wanted on warrants in Oswego County, according to the sheriff's office.
Daniel P. Letiecq, 37, is now free on bail of $1,000 posted in Jefferson County and $775 in Oswego County.
A sheriff's patrol attempted to halt his northbound vehicle about 6:15 a.m. on Route 3 in the town of Ellisburg because a computer check revealed it was bearing stolen license plates, deputies said.
After he accelerated, he failed to negotiate a left turn at Pierrepont Place, drove through a field, then returned to Route 3, heading south. He stopped a short time later and gave up, deputies said, and was arrested on charges of unlawfully fleeing police, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and speeding at 90 mph in a 55-mph speed zone.
Following arraignment before Henderson Town Justice Michael Yonkovig, he was turned over to Oswego city police, who held a warrant charging fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, and to the Oswego County Sheriff's Department, which had a Family Court warrant charging him with failure to make support payments.

Tennessee man charged
in Sandy Pond incident
SANDY CREEK — A former Sandy Pond man was extradited from Tennessee to face an allegation that he possessed without a prescription a pain medication given to cancer patients.
The arrest of Russell J. Plummer, 20, Clarksville, Tenn., stems from the investigation into the death of a 21 year-old man in August 2008 at Sandy Pond, police said.
He was released on $2,500 bail Thursday in Oswego County Court, and awaits prosecution on a charge of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Mr. Plummer was found possessing Fentanyl patches at his home during the death investigation, police said. The death occurred during a party, and was determined to have been from a drug overdose, an investigator said, but it was undetermined if the consumed drug was Fentanyl, he added.
The name of the deceased person was not revealed. The investigation was opened Aug. 3, 2008.
