I'm agnostic when it comes to Rachel Maddow. But the MSNBC pundit did an extended piece on the 23rd Congressional District race recently and I feel inclined to pass it along.

I'm glad Ms. Maddow finds this election so amusing. There are real consequences for all of us who live here to all this fighting between national interests. Sadly, we're caught in the middle of this food fight. Few seem to truly care about what's best for the people of the north country.

This election shouldn't be a reflection of President Obama's first 10 months in office, or the agenda to move the Republican Party back to the right - or further from the right. It shouldn't be about who did what or who said what in The Weekly Standard, Daily Kos or the Washington Independent.

This election should be solely about picking the person who will best represent our unique interests in Washington - Fort Drum, dairy farms, jobs, power, Seaway issues. To far too many, this race has become a circus act for the rest of the nation, a punchline you can laugh to your friends about.

I pray for some focus from all three candidates in the last two weeks.
