With the recent fiasco in Albany and similar happenings in Washington, Americans can no longer afford the luxury of entering a booth and voting straight party line. With regard to our duty to pay taxes as well as the debate regarding health care, it appears some legislators have one standard we might abide by and a totally different one for themselves. It has become increasingly evident that it is not the party affiliation but rather the character of the individual that counts.
On Nov. 3 we have an opportunity to elect a fine human being to fill the vacant seat for the 23rd Congressional District. One of four children raised by a single parent, Doug Hoffman has become a very successful businessman. He is a certified public accountant who has been accredited with the Personal Financial Specialist designation by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and worked in the field of finance for over 30 years.
Using his financial acumen, he has volunteered his services to the Adirondack Medical Center Finance Committee and the Adirondack Medical Center Foundation Inc. Doug brings his experience as well to operating 13 businesses with his wife of 36 years, Carol, and their three children in their family enterprises. Wouldn't it be great to have someone in Washington who knows how to handle money?
Polls taken prior to the announcement of his campaign show that a conservative Republican can win this election. There is only one candidate who can fill that slot. His name is Doug Hoffman.
