POTSDAM — Marissa Caskinette's goal in the 34th minute held up the rest of the way as Norwood-Norfolk (6-9-3) earned an upset victory, 1-0, over Madrid-Waddington in a Section 10 Class C girls soccer semifinal Monday at Potsdam High School.
Madrid-Waddington (12-4-1) didn't generate many offensive chances, as Norwood-Norfolk goalie Brynn Tebo needed just three saves for the shutout.
Alex Martin finished with nine saves for the Yellow Jackets.
BRUSHTON-MOIRA 1, TUPPER LAKE 0
Emily LaPage registered four saves to earn her third consecutive shutout, and lead the Panthers to a Class C semifinal victory at Massena.
Meghan Follette provided the assist on a corner kick in the 77th minute, as Brushton-Moira (8-7) advanced to the sectional final.
Tupper Lake finished the year 7-8-2.
POTSDAM 6, GOUVERNEUR 0
At Massena High School, Tess Curry turned in two goals and two assists to help the Sandstoners blank the Wildcats in a Section 10 Class B semifinal.
Keeley Rice added two goals and an assist for Potsdam (14-3), which earned a berth in the Nov. 5 sectional title game against Canton. Tess Hazen and Lia Davis also scored.
CANTON 1, SALMON RIVER 0
Murphy Newman connected for the game-winner in the 64th minute at Massena High School, lifting the Golden Bears to a victory in the Section 10 Class B semifinals.
Newman's tally came on the seventh corner kick of the game for Canton (10-6-2).
Amber Debyah stopped 14 shots for the Shamrocks (3-9-4).
