City teenager is charged
on two counts of burglary
Bail is set at $10,000 for a 16-year-old Watertown youth who on Monday was arrested on two counts of second-degree burglary.
Randy W. Harten Jr., 540 Factory St., is also cited with third-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal mischief and petit larceny. He is being held in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and awaits grand jury action. Bail was set by Watertown City Judge James C. Harberson.
Watertown police charged him in connection with intrusions on Sept. 21 and again six days later at the residence of Ina-Mai J. Stowell, 634 Lansing St. Police said a basement door was kicked in to gain entry on one of the occasions, and during the course of the two events, cash and items valued at $3,911 were stolen.
Stolen property included a computer monitor and a laptop computer, 10 DVDs, a bottle of vodka, a gift card, necklace and earring set, an MP3 unit and a GPS unit, police said.
Deputies charge city man
with attacking woman
Francis T. Keenan Jr., 29, of 20408 Hadcock Road, was arrested late Tuesday night by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies on allegations that he repeatedly punched and kicked a woman in his home.
Charged with third-degree assault, unlawful imprisonment and fourth-degree criminal mischief, he was released by town of Watertown Justice James P. McClusky on $250 bail.
Deputies alleged that at about 2:40 a.m. Tuesday, Mr. Keenan forcibly restrained Melissa L. Parker, 31, of 28262 Route 12, punched and kicked her and broke her cell phone when she tried to call police.
Ms. Parker, meanwhile, is awaiting prosecution on charges of attempted second-degree assault, second-degree menacing and endangering the welfare of a child which were lodged after a fight on Sept. 13 in which she allegedly tried to stab Mr. Keenan.
Five facing drug charges
after party at apartments
POTSDAM — Four college students and a 16-year-old girl face drug charges after village police responded Sunday afternoon to Main Street Apartments for a report of a suspicious party.
SUNY Potsdam student Logan S. McLain, 20, Newark Valley, was charged with child endangerment, possession of alcohol with intent to consume and unlawful possession of marijuana, village police said. He reportedly provided the marijuana and alcohol to the others.
SUNY Potsdam students Kyle R. Vuillaume, 20, Burnt Hills, and Nicole M. Crane, 19, Clinton, Utica College student Kimberly R. Silverman, 19, Clinton, and an unidentified 16-year-old girl from Clinton were each charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.
All were issued appearance tickets for Nov. 11 in Village Court.
Brasher Falls man jailed
on drug possession count
ADAMS CENTER — A Brasher Falls man is jailed under $10,000 bail after being arrested by narcotics officers Saturday morning during the search of an apartment in Adams Center.
Michael G. Prior, 37, was arrested by the Metro-Jeff Drug Task Force and state police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team on a charge of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned in town of Watertown Court and was placed in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building.
Police used a search warrant to enter the apartment at 18127 Jefferson Court Circle and alleged finding quantities of marijuana, ecstasy, LSD and hallucinogenic mushrooms.
The investigation is continuing, with additional charges anticipated following completion of laboratory analysis of seized evidence, police said.

charges face car's driver
POTSDAM — A 28-year-old man is accused of punching another man and drinking alcohol while driving.
Verner M. Ingram III, Potsdam, was charged Tuesday with consumption of an alcoholic beverage in a car and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, village police said. He is accused of having a suspended driver's license after officers spotted him drinking alcohol while driving on Hamilton Street.
Passengers Daniel R. Moore, 29, and Michael J. Casey Jr., 28, both of Potsdam, were each charged with consumption of an alcoholic beverage in a car. Both were issued appearance tickets for Nov. 19 in Village Court.
He was also charged with third-degree assault when he reportedly punched another man during a fight Aug. 11. He was issued appearance tickets for Nov. 18 in Village Court.
Man accused of providing
vodka to 14-year-old girl
Keegan R. Dick, 16, of 441 S. Meadow St., and James S. Duffany, 20, of 511 Olive St., were arrested by Watertown police at 1:46 a.m. Sunday at Mr. Dick's home in connection with an incident that occurred Saturday at the same location.
Police said Mr. Dick knowingly provided vodka to a 14-year-old girl and Mr. Duffany engaged in sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl.
Both men were charged with endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful possession of marijuana. Mr. Dick was also was charged with first-degree unlawful dealing with a child; Mr. Duffany was charged with third-degree sexual abuse.
Both men were taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and issued appearance tickets returnable to City Court.
Watertown man charged
with head-butting woman
A man who in April punched an 18-year-old woman is now accused of head-butting her mother, according to Watertown police.
Justin M. Kirby, 20, of 617 Burlington St., surrendered Tuesday night to be charged with third-degree assault. Police allege that Saturday night, he gave a head-butt to Karen D. Pollack, 42, of 29595 Route 12, while she was at his residence, giving her a cut lip. He awaits prosecution in City Court.
On April 1, he was charged with third-degree assault after being accused of punching Alyssa M. Pollack, 18, in the head and arms. He pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of harassment and was given a conditional discharge, according to City Court.
Teenager charged after
locking mom out of home
DEPAUVILLE — State police say a 16-year-old youth locked his mother out of their home early Saturday morning and pulled out a telephone connection to prevent her from calling police.
Scott J.C. Taylor, 15235 County Route 11, was arrested by state police on charges of fourth-degree criminal mischief and unlawful possession of marijuana. With bail set at $2,500 in town of Orleans Court, he remained Monday in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, Watertown.
Troopers said that while they were investigating the domestic fight with his mother, Christi A. Haas, 46, they discovered that he possessed a homemade smoking device containing marijuana residue.
Syracuse woman injured
in West Turin accident
CONSTABLEVILLE — A Syracuse woman sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle rollover accident at 4:33 a.m. Wednesday on Route 26 in the town of West Turin.
Lewis County sheriff's deputies said Catherine E. Clifford, 54, was driving north when she apparently fell asleep, causing her vehicle to go off the right side of the road and hit a mailbox. When Ms. Clifford attempted to steer back onto the road, the vehicle slid sideways, rolled over and landed back on its wheels, deputies said.
Ms. Clifford was taken by Constableville ambulance to Lewis County General Hospital, Lowville, where she was treated for unspecified, minor injuries.
Harrisville man accused
of leaving accident scene
HARRISVILLE — Lewis County sheriff's deputies on Saturday charged Joshua Hartle, 28, Harrisville, with leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
Deputies said Mr. Hartle was involved in a one-vehicle crash at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday on Route 3 in the town of Diana, then left his pickup truck at the scene. He later contacted the Sheriff's Department to turn himself in, deputies said.
Mr. Hartle was additionally charged with speed not reasonable or prudent and crossing hazard markings.
Black River man accused
of breaking door window
GREAT BEND — A Black River man was arrested by state police Tuesday for allegedly damaging the door at a house on County Route 143 in the town of Champion.
Ramsey K. Towles, 19, of 29790 Route 3, was being held Wednesday in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, Watertown, with bail set at $500 by Carthage Village Justice S. Lucille Shettleton.
He is charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief for allegedly breaking the window in a door at the home of Denise J. Adkins, police said.
Woman taken to hospital
after LeRay car accident
EVANS MILLS — Edna A. Rice, 92, of 8130 Schell Ave., was admitted to Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, after she was involved in an accident at Nellis and Waddingham roads in the town of LeRay, Tuesday afternoon.
She was listed in stable condition Wednesday. State police said she suffered face cuts in the 1:10 p.m. accident.
Her southbound car crossed to the opposite side of the road and struck a mail box and utility pole, police said. No summonses were issued.
Watertown woman cited
with filing a false report
A Watertown woman falsely reported that a man drove her car without permission, city police charged Saturday.
Gwen A. Jennings, 39, of 652 Bronson St., is ordered to appear in City Court to answer charges of falsifying business records and third-degree falsely reporting an incident.
She filed the accusations on Oct. 18 and the next day against a Copenhagen man, when she allegedly knew it not to be true, police said.
Philadelphia man faces
sexual abuse charges
PHILADELPHIA — Justin M. McBride, 25, of 18 Garden Road, awaits prosecution on charges of second-degree sexual abuse and unlawfully dealing with a child, lodged by state police.
An investigator said a girl made allegations a week ago that Mr. McBride touched her in a private area of her body during the summer of 2008 when she was 12-years old.
