Vice President Joe Biden will host a "get out the vote" rally for Bill Owens, the Democrats' candidate for the 23rd Congressional District, at 10 a.m. at the North Side Improvement League, 633 Mill St.

The event is free and open to the public. The doors open at 8:30 a.m.

“I'm honored to have the president and vice president's support," said Mr. Owens in a statement. "I am excited to welcome the vice president to Watertown where we'll discuss my plans to create jobs upstate and my commitment to helping turn the page on the George Bush economic agenda.”

Former Gov. George E. Pataki will come to the district Saturday to stump for Mr. Owens' Conservative Party opponent, Doug Hoffman. Robert H. Ryan, Mr. Hoffman's spokesman, said Mr. Pataki will fly into Syracuse, but a time and place for the event hasn't been finalized.
