POTSDAM — Hunter Fowler scored on a pass from Emily Lesperance in the 30th minute to lead No. 2 Harrisville to a 1-0 win over No. 3 Heuvelton in a Section 10 Class D girls soccer semifinal Thursday at Potsdam High School.

The Pirates (15-0-2 overall) will play top-seeded Chateaugay in the championship game at 5 p.m. on Nov. 6 at Potsdam.

Patty Coloney made three saves for the shutout. Sanna Jaquith made six saves for Heuvelton (11-5-2).

CHATEAUGAY 4, ST. REGIS FALLS 0

Marissa Cook scored one goal and assisted on another to lead the top-seeded Bulldogs past the No. 4 Saints (9-6-2) in the other Class D semifinal at Potsdam High School.

Kelly Favaro and Sarah Gardiner also scored for Chateaugay (17-1) and Amanda Wilcox made eight saves for the shutout.

WATERTOWN 3, NEW HARTFORD 2

Jenna Watson and Maureen Keggins scored second-half goals to help No. 3 seed Watertown rally past No. 6 New Hartford in a Section 3 Class A girls soccer quarterfinal at Watertown High School.

The Cyclones will either face Homer or Jamesville-DeWitt in the semifinals.

Keggins also scored a first-half goal for WHS (14-1-2) and contributed an assist, while Taylor Hughes recorded two assists. Goalies Tayler Upton and Kathleen Bacsik combined for seven saves.

New Hartford (10-7) scored the first two goals of the game.

BEAVER RIVER 3, ONONDAGA 3

Tasha Roes netted the only shootout goal to help the No. 4 Beavers advance in a Class C-2 quarterfinal against the No. 5 Tigers at Beaver Falls.

Beaver River (8-5-4) will play at top-seeded Bishop Ludden in the semifinals.

Madalyn Widrick had a goal and an assist for Beaver River, while Jordan Forney and Kate Updike also scored.

SOUTH LEWIS 2, HERKIMER 0

Jennifer Strigle and Heather McManus scored goals to lift the No. 3 Falcons to a Class C-1 quarterfinal win against the No. 6 Magicians in Turin.

South Lewis (13-4) will face either Bishop Grimes or Tully in the semifinals.

McKenzie Colwell made four stops for the shutout for the Falcons.

BOYS SOCCER

ALEXANDRIA 1, OLD FORGE 0 (OT)

Jarret Sweet scored with 2 minutes, 11 seconds left in double overtime to give the No. 12 Purple Ghosts a Class D first-round upset win over the No. 5 Eskimos at Old Forge.

Shane Davis made 14 saves in goal for the shutout for Alexandria (9-6-1). The Purple Ghosts will play at top-seeded Hamilton in the quarterfinals.

LYME 4, REMSEN 0

Josh Fraley scored the first and last goal as the No. 6 Indians defeated the No. 11 Rams in a Class D first-round game at Chaumont.

Lyme (13-4) will play at No. 3 Cincinnatus in the quarterfinals. Cincinnatus beat Immaculate Heart Central 4-0.

Cory Walker had two goals and two assists, while goalie Justin Henderson recorded his 10th shutout of the season for the Indians.

WHITESBORO 1, CARTHAGE 0

Jordan Collver scored in the 63rd minute for the No. 8 Warriors (10-7) in a home Class A first-round win over No. 8 Carthage.

Goalie Robert Bach made 10 saves for the Comets (7-5-4), who missed some good scoring opportunites in the first half.

VOLLEYBALL

SALMON RIVER 3, POTSDAM 1

Rachel Benedict scored 15 points, including eight aces, and added 19 assists to lead No. 3 Salmon River to a 25-10, 22-25, 26-24, 25-20 upset of No. 2 Potsdam (10-6) in a Class C semifinal in Potsdam.

The Shamrocks (10-6) will play top-seeded OFA in the championship game Tuesday.

Aubrey Phillips added 10 points and 15 kills for Salmon River. Katie Phelan led Potsdam with 10 points.

OFA 3, CANTON 0

Jhenna King scored 12 points, contributed 10 assists and nine kills as the Blue Devils gained a 25-19, 25-13, 25-14 sweep of No. 4 Canton (9-10) in a semifinal in Ogdensburg.

Aubrie Badlam had 10 assists for OFA. Kacie Wentworth led Canton with six kills.

CHATEAUGAY 3, EDWARDS-KNOX 0

Kaitlin Legacy had 11 kills for the top-seeded Bulldogs in a 25-9, 25-6, 25-7 sweep of No. 4 Edwards-Knox (0-16) in a Class D semifinal in Chateaugay.

Chateaugay (17-0) will play No. 2 Madrid-Waddington in the championship game Tuesday at a time and site to be determined.

Mikayla Patnode and Leah Cook each had five points for the Bulldogs.

MADRID-WADDINGTON 3,

BRUSHTON-MOIRA 1

Olivia Blackmore recorded 20 points for Madrid-Waddington in a 21-25, 25-16, 25-9, 25-5 win over the No. 3 Panthers (2-14) in a Class D semifinal in Madrid.

Ashley Beldock added 11 points and 12 kills for the Yellow Jackets (6-11).

GIRLS TENNIS

LOWVILLE DUO LOSES

Lowville's Katie O'Brien and Julia Guignard each won a match then lost in the Section 3 state qualifier Thursday at Drumlins Country Club in Syracuse.

O'Brien, a senior, won the 94th match of her career with a 6-1, 6-2 upset win over No. 5 seed Sonia Zaki of New Hartford. O'Brien, who was unseeded, then lost to No. 4 Sienna Susko of Fayetteville-Manlius 6-2, 6-4.

Guignard, a sophomore, beat New Hartford's Sarral Asmat 2-6, 6-2, 6-3. She lost to Anka VanHarstein of Manlius-Pebble Hill 6-0, 6-2.
