CANTON — A Massena man was indicted Thursday by a St. Lawrence County grand jury for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl.

Brian D. Simpson, 23, of 93 Beach St., was charged with second-degree rape and second-degree sexual abuse.

He's accused of having sex with the girl in June 2008 and having sexual contact with her in June 2009. Both incidents happened in the town of Massena, the indictment alleges.

The grand jury also returned indictments against the following:

Michael J. Cook, 25, of 112 Baker Road, Antwerp, was charged with second-degree burglary.

He is accused of breaking into Timothy Webster's home Nov. 4, 2008, on Kearney Road in the town of Gouverneur. State police said Mr. Cook's DNA was matched to evidence found at the scene.

James Waite Jr., 42, of 862 County Route 53, North Bangor, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

He is accused of having stolen tattoo equipment July 18, belonging to Christopher Lawrence, which included a copier, an autoclave and three boxes of needles valued at $2,860.

Kevin C. Guilbert, 27, of 7 Lincoln St., Canton, was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and single count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

He is accused of possessing 9 grams of heroin, about 2 ounces of cocaine and a pair of brass knuckles April 28 in the city of Ogdensburg.
