BOONVILLE — Herbert Richard Marks Jr., 52, of Lewis Road, died Friday morning at St. Luke's Hospital, Utica, NY in the presence of his family.

Born January 5, 1957, in Lowville, son of Dr. Herbert R. Marks and Patricia Barker Marks. Herb graduated in 1975 from South Lewis Central School. He worked on the Marks family farm until purchasing the Cavanaugh farm in Talcottville, NY in the summer of 1986. He then sold the farm and joined the NYS Department of Corrections for employment in 2000 and worked at Woodbourne Correctional Facility in Sullivan County, NY.

Herb married Brenda J. Peters on August 11, 1979 in the Episcopal Church in Lowville, NY.

He was a member of the Lowville Elks Club, enjoyed hunting trips to Colorado with his son and brother-in-law, David Peters, and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving besides his wife, Brenda, are three daughters, Beranda, of Winooski, VT, Brittany and Brianne, Boonville, and a son Joseph, also of Boonville; three sisters and their husbands, Minette and Terry Thisse Martinsburg, Cheryl and Razi Saydjari Casper, WY, Jacquelyn and David Peck, Lowville, a brother William and his companion Melissa Tripp of Lowville. Also surviving Herbert are his mother and father-in-law, Shirley Darwin (Joe) Peters of Watson; three brothers-in-law, David and Lisa Peters of Colorado Springs, CO., Gary and Suzanne Peters, Joey and Kelly Peters, both of Lowville, and one sister-in-law, Linda and Richard Denning of Lowville and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents Herbert and Patricia Marks, paternal grandparents Walter and Mary Marks, and maternal grandparents Walter and Mary Barker.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2-7 pm at the Trainor Funeral Home, 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Funeral Services will be conducted by Rev. William A. Mudge on Monday at 10 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Glenfield, NY. A gathering will follow immediately after the service, at Glenfield fire department. Donations in Herbert's name may be made to the Hope Lodge, 1400 Winton Road North, Rochester, NY 14609.
