CARTHAGE — Minnie L. Hosmer, 81, of 222 State Street, Apt. 706, Carthage, died Thursday, October 29, 2009 at the Carthage Area Hospital Emergency Room.
Mrs. Hosmer was born on February 18, 1928, in Gouverneur to Olive Dashnaw and John Donahue. She graduated from Gouverneur High School. She then married Wheeler W. Hosmer on August 25, 1945 in Gouverneur. Mr. Hosmer died on March 29, 1992. Minnie has been in the community since 1951 and was a homemaker and member of the Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Norman and Debbie Hosmer, Carthage; Marshall and Linda Hosmer, Hannibal; Lloyd and Yvonne Hosmer, Witchita Falls, Texas; Terry Hosmer, Herrings; Jerry Hosmer, Ross Point; Keith and Patricia Marie Hosmer, Plant City, Florida; Leo Hosmer, Carthge; Allen Hosmer, Carthage; Carolyn and Dale Johnson, West Carthage; Susan and Harold Van Aernam, Philadelphia; Patricia and Valence Peets, Black River; Clara Hosmer and her companion, Steve Stenoski, Carthage; Tina Hosmer, Black River; Peggy Hosmer and her companion, Lester Schermerhorn, Beaver Falls. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 30 nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband, Wheeler, and a son, Bruce Hosmer, and his companion, Robyn Hill, a grandson, Eric Hosmer, a daughter, Nancy Hosmer, and four siblings, Herbert, Steve, Clyde, and Milton Donaghue.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2009 from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Monday November 2, 2009 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Bossuot-Lundy Funeral Home, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage, followed by a funeral service in the Chapel of the Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Linda J. Harris, pastor of the Carthage United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will take place in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Naumburg, following the funeral. A luncheon will follow the burial at the American Legion in Carthage.
